Nailsea for The Day

Woke this morning to to sound of pouring rain, shortly followed by thunder and lightning plus a real downpour. Managed to coax Bella out once it had all stopped. Saw this helianthus, which had survived the onslaught. Breaking news! Su has just told me that she thinks it is a dahlia...
These newly emerged flowers look rather elegant.
I know that the black spots mean that the tree is diseased, but they do look quite fetching…
An unusual fruit for a hedge plant-)!
The weather started to brighten up around midday.
This was opportune for our drive off to Nailsea to the Old Mill Barn for Barbara'a birthday party. Saw this on the gate in and not sure if it was Richard's handiwork or a feminist statement…
Symi friends Maz and Richard (arm only) flying the Greek flag (reverse view) in Nailsea.
Another reverse view, this time of Barbara (in birthday cake hat supplied by the publicans) and one of her sons. It was a really enjoyable party in a lovely walled garden with yummy food and good company.
This day a year ago, we published our first picture of the van we had decided to purchase, which we were due to pick up on the coming weekend!
