Music, Flowers and Rusty Door Handles

On our way out last night to go over to Bradford on Avon, we were greeted by the sight of balloons in the air - the first of the year.
We went to the Wiltshire Music Centre to see John Etheridge's Sweet Chorus, a tribute to the music of Stephane Grapelli (who John played with in the 1980s, as well as having been in Soft Machine and the Zappatistas). We've seen John a couple of times before - a great guitarist with a very entertaining line in patter. Last night didn't disappoint - John's playing was excellent as ever with Chris Garrick sharing lead duties on violin. Bass player Andy Crowdy and rhythm guitarist Dave Kelbie completed the quartet - a cracking night that left us happy and swinging!
John opened the second set solo on electric guitar with an Abdulah Ibrahim/Dollar Brand song, multi-tracking several guitar lines to brilliant effect.
Today has been much less sunny than yesterday, a lot of it spent indoors wielding the metaphorical red pen (actually a pencil at the moment) over students' final year dissertations. Escaped into the fresh air with Bella - it looked like rain, but only a few spits luckily.
All the plants are popping - fresh leaves unfolding all around.
This clematis growth from last year reminded me of an early Doctor Who monster.
Today's abandoned item will surely be soon missed - a set of keys (looks like car key and door keys). Hope the owners don't have to backtrack too far to find them.
Nice combination of colours on these shrubs.
On a road with some very expensive houses that you think would be able to afford a lick of paint, this door handle reminded me of Symi for some reason. We'll be there in 10 days' time - the countdown has begun!
Ivy starting to sprout under the ledge at the top of this wall.
The first umbellifer flowers of the year - cow parsley in bloom.
I guess you'd want to be noticed in a car this colour with a personalised numberplate like that.
Another rusty door handle on an expensive house.
Later in our walk, we came across an exhibition of pavement art.
Love the shading on these.
A surreal imagination at work? See their work on gallery walls in 20 years time!
Lots of thorn blossom coming out all around
The first clematis flowers I've seen this year.
An abandoned rose on the pavement.
At the end of our walk, a hint of sunshine.  It didn't last - with a meteor shower forecast for tonight, it has (of course) clouded over.
This day a year ago, I made it back from Hong Kong with the last leg of my journey from Paris to Bristol on this propellor-driven plane.
