Not a Day to Tarry Outside

Took Bella out this morning, and the clouds were already massing for the next onslaught of rain. Saw an abandoned handkerchief - an item of apparel much less common than when I was young.
What happens to old traffic cones? Householders "acquire" them and let the plastic gradually erode.
It didn't rain while I was out with Bella but - as every day of late - evidence of the last recent downpour was all around.
Managed to get out and do some shopping in Larkhall this morning in the drizzle. We were back down there this afternoon, spotting this magnificent foxglove as we walked around.
Also spotted some more of these mysterious holes in an old wall - not the same pattern as the ones at the bottom of Lansdown. One day I'll find out what they were made for…
Stopped in Larkhall Co-op for a bit of shopping, and was amused that the Bath Chronicle might be thought to be unfit for human consumption.
Also met a rain-averse dog called Buddy, who took shelter (along with his owner) when the skies opened.
The rain hasn't stopped since then, but that did not deter us from a trip this evening into Bristol to the Watershed. This is the view from there this evening.
We went to see "Where Do We Go Now?"- a film by Nadine Labaki, the maker of "Caramel". This was an enjoyable, sometimes funny, quite serious film about a group of Lebanese women trying to stop Christian-Muslim conflict between the menfolk of their village. Worth going out to see on a wet and windy night.
This day a year ago, it was a lovely sunny day, showing off our virginia creeper nicely.  We were excited about getting ready to go to Tuscany the next day
Weather permitting, we plan to take in a fair bit of Widcombe Art Trail tomorrow. It was tipping down when they held it last year - maybe the rain will have gone through by tomorrow morning…
