Van, Woods & Gig

Another bright and clear morning, although with some clouds in the sky. Taking Bella out, I saw this WOMAD pass on a neighbour's car - it is taking place this weekend at Charlton Park, Malmesbury. Hope it stays dry for everyone, Bill & Patsi included :-)
Bright red flowers shining in the sun.
This bed of lavender was festooned with eager bees drinking in the nectar.
I filled up the van's tank with water in anticipation of it being borrowed by Ben & Lena for a few days. In the process disturbed this rather large spider (nothing by Symi standards).
We took Bella for a walk up by the golf course into the woods, where it was much cooler than in the sunshine. She happily pottered about
Emerged into the fields for a while, spotting lots of thistles out.
And loads of these, just waiting to pop into flower.
There is lots of ragwort about as well.
On the top field, the farmers were making hay while the sun shone - lots of fields already done, and one or two left to mow.
Coming back through the woods saw some chalk art on the trees - this was the most striking example.
Hay bales from a previous harvest, used for seating and now sprouting a softer layer.
Nearby remnant of a campfire.
On the way back home, there was a laden haymaking wagon in one direction holding up the traffic so we could get out, while this tractor was slowing up traffic coming the other way.
This day a year ago, Su was laid up with a cold and sinuses while the sun shone down. She posted this  sunset photo from her sick bed.
Tonight we are off to see Richard Thompson at the Forum  in Bath. Report tomorrow.
