A life on the ocean wave

We are in a flotilla of two gulets (Turkish sailing boats). Having been kept in Marmaris bay by bad weather until Wednesday morning, the we finally got out to open sea on our third attempt yesterday morning.

We sailed for a couple of hours and moored in a little bay across from the Dalyan delta. After lunch we got into water taxis and chugged across to see reed beds with osprey, kingfishers, turtles, blue crabs and leaping grey mullet. This was on our way to see the ruins of Caunos, with ampitheatre, great views and on our way to see Lycian rock tombs. A great afternoon, topped off by a rain shower - then a brilliant rainbow. When we get to a WiFi spot, photos will be forthcoming.

This morning, the engines started early again and we set off by moonlight. Half a dozen of us came up on decks with blankets (the engine is noisy!) and enjoyed the cool air before the sunrise over the mountains. This is the life!
