Last day on Symi

Yesterday, we walked past Iapetos and over the hill to to Emborio/Nimborio, where we found Maria's taverna open for a refreshing limonada. Wandered round to the top of the bay, which we had to ourselves apart from a Gulet, moored up for lunch. Had a little swim in the sea and our picnic before walking back along the coast road.

The weather was perfect - beautiful blue sky and sea, flat calm and clear with goats grazing. Came back to the hotel and sat on the jetty drinking coffee in the late afternoon sun.

Later on, we scaled the heights of the Kali Strata (384 steps, according to Richard) and had a meal in before heading along to the Sunrise Cafe. George and Clare came along and we played music and sang till the early hours (search for "Sunrise Noww" on Facebok for pictures). A great time indeed followed by the descent down to Yialos.

Woke at dawn to see a beautiful sunrise, and now again sitting in the sun composing this. Su has picked up a cold somewhere en route, so is gently recovering. Tomorrow we leave and head back to the UK. Will try to post the next - shivery - blog entry on the bus from Heathrow to Reading (they should have free WiFi...)

  1. We ate at Syllogos - but the AutoCorrect feature in iOS decided otherwise!
