Racecourse and Cinema

A dry bright morning again - better make the most of it, according to what the weather forecasters are saying. Out with Bella, spotted the first of this year's ragwort.
The morning disappeared in tasks, and buying some dog food down in Larkhall. This afternoon, we all went for a walk up at the racecourse.
It was a lovely afternoon - very pleasant, warm temperatures and big skies.
Half a furlong from the finishing post, I put on a final spurt!
Further up the course, these starting gates were parked at the side of the track.
A saltire in the sky (almost) - for any Scottish readers.
On the edge of the track, a moss encrusted dry stone wall.
Lots of cloud action up on Lansdown. We could see the Severn bridges from up there today.
Tonight we went out to the Little Theatre to see these four short films, as part of the Cultural Olympiad. It was a live broadcast from London, with a Q&A with all the directors afterwards. The four films were very different, but all good in different ways.  Mike Leigh's "A Running Jump" was our favourite, closely followed by Max & Dania's "What If". Some nice photography in 'The Odyssey" and "Swimmer" was quite surreal.
We followed that with a supper at Yum Tum Thai. On the way back to the car, saw this - a parking meter is the obvious place to put an empty glass, isn't it?
This day a year ago, we had our first full day in Florence. This view of the River Arno was taken from upstairs at the Uffizi gallery.
A rather famous statue in the square outside (it is actually a replica - the original is kept in a more secure environment).
