Park and Lakeside

We took Bella down to the vet this morning for her booster jab. The vet says she is in superb health with lovely teeth for a dog her age. We took her for a walk in Victoria Park, where the weather threatened rain (which came) as well as sunshine, which also came a bit later on sporadically.
Just what every park needs! Not the weather for balloon flights though - our neighbours have been trying to have a balloon flight for over a year, but every date they rearrange it for has been raining or too windy. Let's hope they manage it this Summer!
These are the gates to the part of the park below the Royal Crescent - very grand even on a dull day.
The Royal Crescent in the rain.
Up the hill is Winifred's Lane, which goes up past part of Bath Spa university.
It is quite narrow and steep.
Later on, I went off to Chew Valley Lake with Bella in the van. This was the view at the Two-Headed Man junction on the way to Marksbury.
I met up for a natter with Bob Lang, who had got specially dressed for the occasion, here giving himself up for crimes against fashion:-). His outfit was fetchingly completed by a pair of white flip flops. We discussed his still working at UWE, the calling off of the strike there (amazingly the management have come to their senses over the workload model it seems), and raised the possibility of playing some music together. With our travel plans, Left at the Lights is unlikely to be resurrected in the near future - maybe we'll have a comeback tour someday!
The lake was very full - much more so than when last I saw it. No sign of drought here, especially after being lashed by the rain for some of my walk with Bella (she didn't mind).
Rain and wind have undermined this tree.
The wind was quite strong, blowing the trees about and the clouds away for a while.
More trees under water where it has been dry for many months if not a couple of years.
Came home to find this letter from BT. I always thought there was something a bit odd about them. This envelope also has on it an image of a spaceship beaming up a sheep - not sure what that says about their view of their customers…
This day a year ago, I posted this picture of early morning over Charlcombe valley from the day before, my blue Skoda got collected and sent for auction, and we went off to Brean beach with Bella, and Wilfred the dachshund.
