Being Tourists for the Morning

Woke to a dry morning with cloud and blu skies. Su sat in her outside office, taking dictation from Bella.

We went down into town, noticing yet another fading example of painted advertising - this  one for Milkmaid.

Not my idea of a Lounge Cocktail Bar:-)! 

We went to the Little Theatre to see a free preview screening of "Your Sister's Sister", an intelligent, funny and enjoyable film starring the currently omnipresent Emily Blunt (who was very good - again) and Rosemarie Dewitt and Mark Duplass, who were both excellent as well.

We emerged into bright sunlight and went for a wander to be greeted by this enigmatic sight. Hope the hat and owner are soon reunited…

We wandered over to the river to have a look at Carol Peace's excellent sculpture of a swimmer on display in Parade Gardens as part of Bath's Olympic outdoor sculpture exhibition organised by Art at the Edge.

We did the proper tourist bit, wandering past the Abbey and the Roman Baths.

We've never noticed this plaque before - every time you walk around Bath, there is a different aspect to be seen.

On the other side of the Roman Baths, this chap was reaching the culmination of a long spiel about diving into a bucket of water. He certainly kept the large crowd entertained, and did actually descend and immerse his head in the bucket, but not quite the way some people expected:-)

Back home, we thought the rugs drying on the line looked rather fetching at the end of the garden. 

Later on, we took Bella for a walk up above, and then into, Primrose Woods. Saw this unusually named vehicle for a dog hotel parked nearby (their website promises "luxury breaks for dogs"!).

Got home just before the rain started, and now salivating over the delicious smells emanating from the kitchen!

This day a year ago, Su was teaching me how to be retired. Coincidentally, this lesson involved going down into Bath where we did a spot of shopping and took in an exhibition at the Victoria Art Gallery.
