Overcast Molyvos

Woke today to grey, overcast skies and sporadic showers, some of them quite persistent. We had been planning to go down to the Gulf of Kalloni in search of migrating birds, including flamingos allegedly! Maybe tomorrow as the weather is forecast to improve. Instead we sat on our balcony under the awning and enjoyed the still warm temperature.

After a while, I was actually moved to iron some clothes - at least some of which will be packed again before they are worn, as Su kindly pointed out:-). I also photographed one of the roof icons which are very common in Greece - we first came across them on Zakynthos in the 1980s

The weather gradually improved and we went off for a late lunch to Skala Sikamanias. We didn't finish eating till 5 pm, so it **was** late! Saw yet another great Greek ice-cream name there...

After that, we went down to the virtually deserted beach, and enjoyed an idyllic couple of hours in the late afternoon sun watching the occasional fishing boat and the waves lapping at our feet.

Came back through the last of the sun bathing the tree-covered hillsides in golden light. Got back to our house to see the last of a very cloudy sunset.

This day last year, I was immersed in marking hell, but managed to escape with Bella and took the panoramic composite of one of my favourite walks.

Apologies for the photographs not being in sequence - Blogger doesn't offer that level of control, but it **is** a more predictable app than BlogPress. When I get back to my laptop normal interleaving of pictures and text will resume...
