Andissa in the Hills

Up and out quite early today for an explore towards the west of the island. We drove through miles and miles of wooded terrain, listening to many different bird songs - and spotting a cluster of twitchers along a gorge outside Vatousa. The views were stunning.

We pulled into Andissa for a pit stop, where the estate agent's signs reaffirmed the Lesbos connection.

We had a drink in the town square, which is shaded by three enormous London Pride/plane trees. Figured out that the village is left-oriented since one tree had a poster for Syriza, the Left party currently trying to form a coalition, and another had a poster for the Communist Party (who, in true left schismatic fashion, will have nothing to do with Syriza).

After that we wended our way back towards Molyvos, stopping off to give Petra another look. Had a very tasty lunch in this back street taverna.

Walked along the front - this structure has seen better days!

Looking along the sea front. After this we came back to our house and enjoyed the warmth of the afternoon.

Had a delicious dinner down at the Captain's Table, which is owned and run by Melinda - from whom we are renting our house in Molyvos. She contributes to the blog Molyvos Events ( http://molyvosevents.wordpress.com ), which promotes the town.

This day a year ago, I was wrestling with computers and BT routers (and not marking) until I had enough and took Bella off to Westonbirt to enjoy the bluebells.
