First full day on Symi

After making it down into Yialos yesterday and WiFi-ing away over coffee, we decided to inspect the new road to Nimborio, passing the still un-renovated Lazy Days on the way.

The road is a great improvement- but, as we have only seen Symi at the end of the Summer, much more impressive were the flowers - from an early bougainvillea to Cyclamen and hillsides covered in wild cistus, and loads of greenery.

Rather than go all the way to Nimborio we took the path back over the top of the hill to Yialos past this church.

That's when it started to rain... We had had a discussion about whether to come out with rain gear or not, so it is my fault that we got pretty soaked by the time we limped back into town! Thankfully we were in time to catch the bus up into Horio. After a change of clothes and a cup of coffee, our spirits were restored - a bit too late to help with Jennine's house move, which we found out later was rained off anyway.

We found this out when we met Wendy & Jed bringing duvets (the first night was really cold with just one blanket each). We repaired to the Sunrise Cafe with them for a glass or two, before going to eat gorgeous food at Giorgio's and stumbling happily back to the Little Blue House.

This morning was a slow start, sunshine aplenty and we have done a little meandering and fetched up at the Olive Tree for a coffee and a potent restorative of honey, lemon and ginger for Su's cold which has come on. This is the life!
