Our winter-flowering cherry continues to blossom, even as the leaves fall off.
It was another grey day that agin ony had a little colour in the sky in the late afternoon.
Bella found this supply of ball shaped objects for me to throw for her…
… apples from this tree - probably a relic from when this whole hillside was covered in orchards.
These mallow flowers are still blooming.
This day a year ago, Bella enjoyed a drink from this fast-running stream.
When We Were Young(er) in 1990 on Milos, Su waiting for the boat to Sifnos.
A grey day after the sunshine of the last few days. We walked down into town again this morning and admired these trees on Belgrave Crescent.
Down on Walcot Street, we were reminded of the name of this local "head shop".
This street art at the bottom of Walcot Street has been there for years.
A great big crane blocked the road in front of Waitrose.
We went to see a preview of Saving Mr Banks at the Little Theatre. It provided some context to the story behind the writing of Mary Poppins - and a film with Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson in was always going to be engaging!
When we came out, snow had magically (a la Walt Disney!) appeared on just the roofs and trees of the Christmas Market - which starts tomorrow. Expect coaches from all over the country and loads of tourists for the next three weeks or so.
Back home, I took Bella out for her afternoon walk - this was as bright as the skies got all day…
This day a year ago, I went to investigate the landslip that happened during the big storms a couple of days before. This sign's position was well chosen!
When We Were Young(er) in 2003 on Tilos, we often saw the Tilos Sea Star at the harbour just outside our room. We also got woken by the bin men nearly every morning at 4 o'clock!
Awake to see dawn's early light yet again, Liked the conjunction of street lights with the glow on the horizon.
Soon the skies started to colour up.
Then they became quite spectacular.
The scene at the back of the house was impressive too.
Lots of cloud cover.
Out with Bella, I admired our winter-flowering cherry, which has started to bloom before it's lost its leaves.
It was a proper frost last night.
Saw this neighbour's pile of wood and resisted the urge to get a wheelbarrow and reduce his pile a little:-).
The sun shone on Malvern Terrace with Little Solsbury behind.
The sun was trying to break through the clouds.
Brooding sky.
The day brightened up quite a bit after that. We walked down into town via Belgrave Crescent, where I liked the sweep of chimney pots lit up by the sunshine
A door with paintwork worthy of Symi.
I liked the contrast between the dark branches and bright leaves on this tree.
Walking down Walcot Street, we were passed by a Hell's Angel on a three wheeler (a Hell's Trike?) - they are giving city centre tours on these now.
Faded old advertising artwork still to be seen.
We went to Komedia to see Gravity at last. It certainly kept us awake - a great performance by Sandra Bullock.
Admired the Christmas lights on the way back up out of town.
This day a year ago, we went off to Westonbirt (re-opened after the high winds of the previous day) and admired their new water feature - created by all the recent rain we'd had.
When We Were Young(er) on Symi in 2005, we had already started taking pictures of door knockers several years before we went on Neil's first ever photo walk.
A bright start to the morning - it gets a little later and the sun comes up a bit more to the right, every day for another month or so.
It was back down into town to the Apple Store. Today's "Genius" actually bothered to look inside the machine and did find a fault (that could be fixed there and then).
After that, it was back out into a lovely bright day - these Christmas illuminations were lit up by the sun.
This hotel by the station had absailing window cleaners at work.
The tunnel past the station, full of taxis.
I liked this abstract bollard and the shadow it cast.
In Widcombe. I'm not sure I want to inquire what sort of virtual practices we're talking about!
After meeting up with Su at Prior Park Garden Centre, came home and did some domestic chores before going out with Bella down by the river for an afternoon walk. The light was lovely and the river was still enough for some good reflections.
I was particularly taken by this bend in the river.
A mighty pylon dominates the scene.
Walked back through Kensington Meadows into a glorious sunset sky.
Looking the other way towards Little Solsbury, with a bank of purple clouds on the skyline.
This day a year ago, it was extremely windy as this picture managed to suggest.
When We Were Young(er) in 1990 on Sifnos, I was either reading intently or sound asleep… Our wooden-handled sharp knife (it lives on in our van cutlery collection!), which we bought on Milos a few days before, is in the sand next to me.
